In Reggio if you think wine you think Lambrusco (the grape is widely found in the province of Modena and in the lower province of Mantua).
It is a naturally sparkling red – a rarity among wines – and ideally suited to combining with local cuisine, which requires a wine that helps wash down its full flavours: Lambrusco ideally fits the bill.
Lambrusco has vastly improved in recent years thanks to the efforts of local winemakers to enhance quality and to innovate.
These path-breaking entrepreneurs have created prospects for the area’s wines that would have previously been unimaginable. Various species of vines are now grown in the area alongside Lambrusco, resulting in some excellent still wines.
